Chief of Police Richard L. Handfield is the administrative and executive officer for the department. A member of the department for over 28 years, Chief Handfield has been in-charge of the department since the early 1990's when he was promoted to his current rank. At the present time he is assisted by Secretary Kim Corey with various administrative functions.

Some of the duties of the Chief include, but are not limited to, firearms licensing, issuing solicitation permits, and general oversight of the Sergeants, Officers, Special Police Officers, Dispatchers, and School Crossing Guards.
