Sergeant Mark S. Moore is currently the Acting Chief of Police. A member of the department for over 27 years, Acting Chief Moore assumed duties as the administrative and executive officer for the department in October 2011, during the transition period leading up to retirement of Chief of Police Richard Handfield, who has been in-charge of the department since the early 1990's. At the present time Acting Chief Moore is assisted with various administrative duties by Secretary Kim Corey.

Some of the duties of the Chief include, but are not limited to: firearms licensing, issuing solicitation permits, and general oversight of the Sergeants, Officers, Special Police Officers, Dispatchers, and School Crossing Guards.
