Elder Affairs

Sergeant Richard O'Brien and Sergeant Stephen McFaul are specially trained to assist with elder affairs issues. If you have any concerns about an elderly relative, neighbor, or friend in Millbury do not hesistate to contact either officer. They may be able to assist in a variety of ways, including necessary referrals to elder, medical, or social services. This assures the person you may have concerns about begins to recieve the proper care and remains safe.

If you have any questions please call the police department. Sergeant O'Brien may be contacted between Midnight and 8 AM. Sergeant McFaul may be reached between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM or 4 PM and Midnight.

As always, if there is an emergency or situation which needs an immediate response, dial 911 or call the police department business line, as all officers within the department are trained at a basic level in handling elder affairs calls. Please check out the links below for local, state, and elder advocacy resources which can be helpful.

"File of Life"

To further assist in the protection of elders in the community, The Millbury Police Department, Radius Health Care (formerly Providence House Nursing Home), and The Millbury Federal Credit Union, have partnered to create the "File of Life".

This two-sided informational card is completed by individuals and their familes with vital information including: basic info about the individual, emergency contacts, doctors and hospital information, breif medical history, and a list of medications among other key information.

Once the pre-printed card is completed, it is folded and placed in a red magnetic holder on the person's refridgerator where the Millbury Police or Pathways EMT's/Paramedics responding can retrieve this critical information. This is a valuable tool for both the first responders and patient, as the information (medical history, medication list, etc...) can be life-saving if the person cannot communicate due to the medical emergency.
