LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARMS (LTC)

TYPES OF LTC's

There are two (2) types of Licenses to Carry (LTC) - See description below:

CLASS-A:

This class permits the purchase, possession, and carying of large-capacity handguns, rifles, shotguns, and feeding devices.

CLASS-B:

This class permits the purchase, possession, and carrying of non-large capacity handguns, rifles, and shotguns.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

You must be 21 years of age or older to obtain a Class-A or Class-B LTC

To obtain a LTC you MUST attend a Firearms Licensing Course. At this class you will recieve a signed certificate of attendence. After you have completed the course, you may bring the certificate along with TWO (2) letters of recommendation from NON-family members into the Millbury Police Department. You must be a Millbury resident or a business owner in the Town of Millbury to receive a license from this department. You do not have to fill out any paperwork in advance, as the process is all done on computer. It takes roughly about a half an hour for brand new licenses due to the fact that we will have to take a full set of fingerprints to submit with your application into the state. Renewals should only take about fifteen (15) minutes.

A fee of $100.00 will be charged for all LTC permits and will be active for six (6) years. The expiration date will be on your license, however you should receive a reminder notice in the mail from the State around your birthday to come into the station to rewnew your license.

You do not need an appointment to apply for your LTC. You may walk into the Millbury Police Department between the hours of 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Sorry, no Saturday hours are available. If you cannot make it here between these hours you may call 508-865-3521, ask for Kim Corey, and set up a time to come in or email her at kim.corey@millburypolice.com.
