Dispatcher Patricia "Patty" Rutherford, who has been with the department since 1986, has transfered to a position within the Town Hall. Her skills and knowledge as the head dispatcher and an important lifeline for officers on the other end of the radio, will be greatly missed. We wish you the best of luck in your new position and thank-you for your dedicated service to the department.
As Dispatcher Rutherford transitons to her new position, the department continues to be staffed by some of the best dispatchers ready to answer 911 calls, telephone calls, and requests from officers on the street. For more info on what our dispatcher do, check out the Communication Division page.

Matthew Wunshel was chosen by the Board of Selectmen to be the newest Officer within the ranks of the Millbury Police Department. Mr. Wunshel, who is an Air Force Veteran and has military policing experience, will be attending the Municipal Police Academy in the upcoming months. Wunshel fills the spot in the department created by the retirement of Sergeant Richard O'Brien in January 2009 and the upcoming promtion of Officer Brian Lewos in July. Welcome to the department and we wish you luck as you begin your law enforcement career here in Millbury. |

Officer Brian Lewos was chosen by the Board of Selectmen to be promoted to Sergeant, and fill the open supervisors position created by the retirement of Sergeant Richard O'Brien in Janaury. He will be appointed and begin his duties on July 15th, 2009. |

Sergeant Richard P. O'Brien retired at the beginning of the year after a 28 year career with the Millbury Police Department. Sergeant O'Brien, who served primarily as the Midnight shift supervisor over the past five years, was the departments Elder Affairs Specialist and previously served as the Court Officer. We thank you and wish you the best in your retirement and future endeavors. |

Sergeant Stephen J. Webb recently retired after 28 years of service with the Millbury Police Department. As the towns first D.A.R.E. Officer he had an impact on many children growing up in Millbury during his career. He oversaw the transition from the Millbury Police D.A.R.E. program to what is now an expanded curriculum under Project D.R.E.A.M. Sergeant Webb was also a motorcycle officer and most recently the School Resource Officer with duties within the Millbury School System. We thank you and wish you the best in your retirement and future endeavors. |

In December of 2007, Officer Christopher Polselli completed training and was certified to teach the Rape Agression Defense (R.A.D.) program. He will be teaching with Officer Kim Brothers and working closely with members of the Sutton Police Department to present the program to the public.
